Volunteering
Volunteering with social welfare will appeal to those who have a desire to get involved with helping the disadvantaged in the Indonesian community, and who enjoy seeing beyond the usual expatriate life. (You do not have to have a background in social welfare, just an interest!) We always welcome new volunteers to the social welfare committee!
Our committee, which usually numbers around 25, consists of a director or two co-directors, a treasurer and assistant treasurer, a PR co-ordinator, medical & school sponsorship coordinators, an administration officer, an evaluation team, and a project coordinator for each of the regularly-funded projects.
Project coordinators are basically the liaison person between ANZA and an existing Indonesian charitable foundation. The various positions require differing time-commitments: at the high end, some positions may feel rather like a part-time job, and other positions, such as project coordinator, may involve as little as two mornings a month.
For those who do not wish to be part of the committee, hands-on help is always needed with the two teams that organise play sessions with orphanages we support.
The social welfare committee meets once a month at ANZA House, and we always welcome new ANZA members who are just curious to see what is involved, as well as those wishing to become volunteers. Come join us!
